Immunisation

Immunisation saves lives. As well as protecting yourself from dangerous diseases, getting your tamariki vaccinated is one of the best ways to set them up for a healthy future. Lots of vaccines in Aotearoa are free.

For information on immunisations for your tamariki, please go to immunise.health.nz.

If you have any patai, are looking for resources, or would like to subscribe to the immunisation pānui, please email the National Immunisation team.

Our focus

Immunisation protects you and your tamariki from dangerous diseases and getting really sick. It stops people from passing diseases to their whānau, particularly to those who may not have strong immune systems.

Our focus is on increasing immunisation rates so tamariki, whānau and communities can enjoy these benefits.

We have established four rōpū in districts with lower immunisation rates to provide safe spaces for kōrero so whānau can make informed decisions around immunising their tamariki and to co-develop immunisation rauemi (resources) that will work for their communities.

Piloting of the rauemi is ready to begin. The rauemi will be distributed through wānanga and from services that māmā have chosen across Whangarei, Taranaki, Te Tairawhiti and Waihopai.

If you have any patai about this project, Te Whainga o te Mārama, contact Jemma Titheridge or Hayley Horne.
