What a bath board is
A bath board is a seat that sits across your bath. A bath board is used for:
- getting in and out of a bath safely
- to sit on when you shower safely.
You cannot use a bath board if you have a shower track on the bath.
Most bath boards have a maximum weight capacity. Your occupational therapist will make sure you get a bath board that is right for you.
Fitting a bath board
Loosen the adjustment legs
Put the board across the bath with the handle closest to the wall.

Make sure there is a 5cm lip on each side
Do not use the bath board if the lip on each side is less than 5cm. It will not be safe to use.
Fit the adjustment legs firmly against the bath
Tighten the adjustment legs and make sure the board is firmly in place before you use it.
Using a bath board
Sit on the bath board
Once you are sitting move your bottom towards the middle of the bath board.

Swing your legs over the side of the bath
Make sure you are in the middle of the board when showering or bathing.
