Surveys in progress
We manage surveys to monitor key health indicators, behaviours and attitudes of New Zealanders.
Our purpose is to provide high quality research and evaluation expertise to help build an evidence base for best practice health promotion in Aotearoa.
As an Insights and Evaluation team we undertake and support research and provide advice to inform the work of Health Promotion, within the National Public Health Service, Te Whatu Ora, and the work of others.
Our programme of work covers a broad range of health and wellbeing topics, with a clear commitment to Māori and Pacific health equity, and ensuring Te Tiriti drives everything we do and how we do it.
We monitor trends in health and wellbeing attitudes and behaviours, including through our Health & Lifestyles Survey (which has been run every two years since 2008) and the Alcohol Use in New Zealand survey.
Our research is guided by our Te Tiriti dynamic approach, which is explained through our Health Promotion Framework (Takoha). Takoha is a tool to understand if, and how, we are making a difference to the health and wellbeing of all New Zealanders.
Our activities are also informed by our Research Framework, which sees us working at the interface of mātauranga Māori, Pacific research models and Western Science.
