The Board of the Health Promotion Agency/Te Hiringa Hauora (HPA) is delighted to announce the appointment of Tane Cassidy (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Hine) as HPA’s new Chief Executive.
Board Chair Jenny Black said the board carried out a thorough recruitment process following the resignation of the former Chief Executive in July this year and had received many very strong applicants for the role.
“Mr Cassidy’s experience and knowledge of the health sector, his deep understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and his enthusiasm for the promotion and prevention side of health saw him shine above his peers,” she said. “He also presented a strong vision for the future direction of Te Hiringa Hauora.”
He has been the General Manager of Communications and Capacity at HPA since the organisation’s inception in 2012 and has been acting Chief Executive.
Mr Cassidy said he was honoured and privileged to be appointed as HPA’s new Chief Executive.
“HPA is an organisation focused on wellbeing with a firm commitment to meeting our obligations against Te Tiriti o Waitangi and achieving equity of health outcomes for all New Zealanders.
With a new Chair, new board members and pending changes in the public sector and through the health and disability system review, it is an exciting time to be leading an organisation that can make a real difference to the lives of New Zealanders.”
