Pasifika Alcohol Harm Sector and Community Engagement Report

In October 2022, the Alcohol team commissioned Bluespur Consulting Limited, a Pacific engagement provider, to support engagements with the Pacific alcohol sector and community in our work on alcohol harm minimisation for Pacific. The two main objectives of the engagement were to connect with stakeholders and community and to better understand the communities' experience of alcohol harm.

Thirteen engagements took place nationwide from November 2022 to January 2023 and included four sector fono in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin and nine focus groups with community. The subsequent report, titled "Alcohol harm has no place in our culture", presents insights and recommendations for improving equity for Pacific peoples from an alcohol harm perspective. The premise of the engagement was to centre the voice, values and aspirations of Pacific.

This publication is the next phase of the Alcohol Harm Minimisation work programme with the development of a Pacific Alcohol Harm Minimisation Strategy.
