Services we provide

Tests are important to identify hearing problems and vision problems. They are part of the national vision hearing screening programme which schedules tests for all tamariki at specific ages between 4 and 11.

Tests include:

  • audiometry (hearing)
  • tympanometry (middle ear function test)
  • vision (distance visual acuity).

The service refers tamariki with identified needs to appropriate follow up services.

Children's hearing and vision services are provided by Community and Southern Rural Health.
