The Health and Lifestyles Survey (HLS) is a monitor of the health behaviour and attitudes of New Zealand adults aged 15 years and over, and parents and caregivers. The HLS is managed by the Health Sponsorship Council(HSC) and collects information relating to the programme areas the HSC works in. These areas include tobacco control, sun safety, problem gambling and healthy eating.

The survey explores 14 and 15-year-olds' smoking behaviours, and risk and protective factors associated with smoking. Topics include cessation, HSC interventions and youth culture.
