A qualitative investigation into wider aspects of family and whānau functioning, many of which can impact on healthy eating. More than 100 families were involved in this research.

Parent Pack resources (Parent Packs) are paper based health promotion resources that aim to assist parents and caregivers to manage a range of issues, including alcohol and other drugs, for their young people. Parent Pack resources are designed to give parents the tools and guidelines to deal with issues faced by their teenage children, particularly alcohol and drug issues.

This document presents the results and recommendations of two recent research studies on alcohol and other drug (A&D) treatment services for Pacific peoples. The studies are part of the Pacific Alcohol & Drugs Outcomes Project (PADOPT), which was launched in 2002 with the aim of evaluating and improving the effectiveness of A&D treatment services for Pacific peoples.

Despite people under the age of 18 being unable to legally purchase alcohol themselves, the 2004 Health Behaviours Survey found that 56% of 12-17 year olds had consumed alcohol in the last 12 months.
