Staying the night
Parents and extended whānau remain the main providers of care for their children while in hospital. One support person may stay overnight to help with care.
It is appreciated if you bring your own supply of nappies, formula and bottles for your child.
Toys
Toys provide distraction, relieve boredom and provide a way for children to cope with the hospital environment. Playing also provides an indication of how your child is feeling and recovering. Bring 1 or 2 of your child's favourite toys for them — we recommend toys are washable and named.
TV and entertainment
Most rooms have a TV. Consider others' needs for rest and quite when using entertainment devices in shared. Some movies are available for viewing from the nurses' station. There is also a selection of children's books on the ward.
