Rheumatic fever service — Tairāwhiti

Tairāwhiti public health nurses run a service to provide preventative treatment to people diagnosed with rheumatic fever.

The service is offered Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Once a month, we offer 2 late clinics on Tuesday and Thursday until 6:30pm.


Where to find us

The public health nurse will meet you and your whānau at Gisborne Hospital, in our clinic or at your home.


Services we provide

For the rheumatic fever service, the public health nurse provides:

  • antibiotic injections once a month
  • a flu vaccine once a year
  • education and support
  • nursing assessments.

When you are diagnosed with rheumatic fever, the Medical Officer of Health will give you information about our service.
